Frequently Asked Questions about Laser Therapy
Nd:Yag Laser FAQs
Is laser treatment
painful?
The application of local
anaesthetic cream helps to numb the discomfort
caused by laser therapy. Some areas are more
sensitive than others, for example around the
eye region. The sensation is likened to a rubber
band snapping against the skin.
How many laser
treatments are needed?
Multiple sessions are usually
needed:
-
Freckles, Lentigines: 1-3
sessions
-
Naevus of Ota/Hori: 6-10
sessions
-
Tattoos (Professional):
7-10 sessions
-
Tattoos (Amateur): 2-5
sessions
-
Tattoos (Eyebrow): 1-3
sessions

well with QS Nd YAG laser treatment; green

and extent of the lesion being treated:
-
Laser Tattoo Removal:
from $200
-
Laser Photorejuvenation:
from $400
-
Laser Pigmentation: from
$150 for moles, age spots

forms & takes 5-7 days to fall off
Any Side Effects from Pigmentation
Treatment?
1. Redness - this
usually clears within a few days
2. Pigmentary changes
- hyperpigmentation is common (>75%) and
develops about 3-4 weeks post-laser. This fades
gradually over the next 4-6 months and may be
minimized by the use of lightening creams and
sun-avoidance post-laser. Transient
hypopigmentation can also occur and will take
several months to resolve. Permanent
hypopigmentation is uncommon.
3. Scarring is
uncommon. In order to minimize the risk of
scarring, it is important to follow the
post-laser instructions carefully. A good skin
care regime (sun protection in particular) is
vital to maximize the benefits and minimize the
